My Green Thumb

I have this wonderful knack of killing any plants that I try to grow. When we lived at the Nursery I gave out advice on how to take care of plants, including house plants (Pete and I studied up on how to take care of them) so I knew the theory, but still killed every thing I touched.

However living on the Isle of Wight must have some magic or something because I am succeeding very well. This geranium was given to me just before we moved here, it finished flowering in NI, so I have been patiently watering and waiting. And I have been rewarded! I can't believe it, not only did I not kill it, but it is flowering too! How exciting.

Paddling Pool

I was browsing the blogs I follow and was reading my cousin Jenny's blog, when my kids saw this post. If you scroll down you will see her children in a paddling pool. My kids asked me if I could buy one for them to splash around in, my answer was we will see....

So today I come home after the kids have been home for a while and this is what I find in the back garden.

They had taken the tarpaulin that covers their mini workshop and used it to make a pool of sorts. I thought it was genius!! It has been really hot lately, most days hitting 28 deg C. I am loving it.

Happy Birthday Cheryn

Cheryn turned 14 on the 18th May. She decorated her own cake. Angela and Patrick came around for dinner and pudding. Then on the weekend Cheryn had a three person party and sleep over. I think she had a good day.

Games with the missionaries

Last night after the lesson in Family Home Evening we played a game called by some; guess who I am. You write the name of a person, character from a movie or an object on a piece of paper and then stick it onto someone else's forehead. They don't know who or what they are and have to guess, but only yes and no questions are to be asked. It is really fun.

Friday 7 May 2010

Did you know there was such a thing as a slow worm? This is the second time we have found one in our garden, it may even be the same one. You know it's a lizard because it blinks. But otherwise you might be excused for thinking it is a snake. It feels really strange, because I was still thinking snake even although I know it's not one.

So after I have enjoyed holding this smooth gentle creature I hand it to Corbin, once it is in his hands it goes mad! Wiggling and squirming to get out of his hands! I scream because I don't want it in the house hiding under the furniture, Rachel screams because it is squirming near her and she is holding the bowl, Corbin screams because were screaming, and Pete takes a picture! By that point though it was safely in the bowl and I had begun to laugh.
