Holiday to England

We are going away for 10 days to England, so there won't be any posting until we get back.

But knowing me there will be PLENTY of pictures to post. I am so glad for digital cameras otherwise I would spend a fortune on developing.

Have a very merry Christmas, may you feel the love of the Saviour in your lives.

See you in the New Year.

Rachel and the teddies

Rachel has a wonderful imagination. Almost every night I come to my room to go to bed and I find a different pose for the teddies on my bed. Last night I found them at the foot of my bed all tucked in.Then Pete told me to come and see how she was sleeping. She loves her teddies.

Let's go for a walk

Oh, look it's not raining out side, let's go for a walk. So we go upstairs, put on our long johns and vests, then our jeans and t-shirt, then a fleece, then a scarf, then a hat, then some gloves, then a thick coat, then our thermal socks, then our boots.

Wow, I think we are ready! We did enjoy our walk by the way.

One way to get the day off school

WW2 bomb scare at Bangor school

Hundreds of pupils (including Cheryn) were evacuated from their school today when workmen unearthed what they believed to be an unexploded Second World War mortar bomb in the grounds.

The device was found at Bangor Academy in Bangor, Co Down, forcing the school to be cleared and several surrounding town centre streets to be closed off.

Army bomb disposal experts were sent to the scene, said police.

The school moved to a new multimillion-pound building earlier this year and workmen are still digging in the grounds as they put the finishing touches to it.

Two days ago a Second World War grenade was removed from a private collection in a house a few miles away in Newtownards over fears it could still explode.

Zeek the Shepherd

Zeek was in the School Christmas play. They didn't have speaking parts, just acting with the narrator speaking.

I especially like his beard.

Zeek has the faith that I imagine the shepherds did have in those olden times.

The Continental market

Every year at the end of November and through December the continental market comes to Belfast. There are crepes from France, sausages from Germany, mini pancakes from Holland, Hamburgers from America and a roast boar too. (Obelix would be so jealous!) And many, many more choices.

We decided to let the South Eastern Education Board (school) babysit our children while we went eating our way around the world.

Pete and I enjoyed a Thornton's Hot Chocolate.
Donovan and Eva got some delicious sweets. We had a good morning.

What do you do if you are 7 and wanting to go out in the rain?

A rain coat is too boring, this solution seemed like much more fun.

Saturday morning monopoly

We hadn't even gotten dressed yet!

What I really do when the kids are at school

'nuff said

Does anyone know what this is?

It is on the wall in our bedroom, no idea what it does or what it is for.

Our new house, the back garden

I'll get to the garage when it is tidy.

This is the shelf that Pete built, with my help

He was very chuffed with them.

For Mom Bowen

You asked to see Rachel's hair curly, here she is.I have to practice winding curlers in for hairdressing so the girls kindly sit and let me use them. This is the end result in Rachel's hair, we won't be perming her hair.

How to recycle old flat pack furniture.

Well, we had a set of bunk beds (not exactly these, but close)

And an old cupboard (Cheap Argos flat pack, wish we had shopped at Ikea instead, but they were still building it when we got here)

And we turned them into...

A screen to cover the office/foodstorage/laundry room...

A set of shelves under the stairs...And a roaring fire!

Happy birthday to me.

Well I am 30 now. Feels like it took forever to get there! There are only 20 candles on the cake, 30 just seemed like too many to fit!

Pete took me out for dinner, we went to an Indian Restaurant in town as I wanted to eat a hot curry. Well, I ordered a Vindaloo, and did I nearly die!!! Pete thought it would be great to take these shots of my first mouthful, this is definitely the hottest thing I have ever eaten. Could I get a glass of milk please, and hand me that naan bread!
It was good, once my mouth recovered.
