Can you believe how calm the sea was here!
Well the heading really says it all.

Zeek's hockey
I watched my first hockey match today, it was great. You know those moms who stand on the side cheering and giving advice? That was me! I didn't know I was that kind of person.
The school hockey team were playing in a match for the first time and they did really well. They won two out of six matches. They were playing round robin (I had no idea what that was this morning, so don't worry if you don't either) It is where you have a few teams and they all rotate so that at the end everyone has played against everyone.
Some of the children were really amazing, I can see them going far if they stick at it - Zeek being one of them. (that is not a bias mom thing, he really is very good at it.) A great time was had by the players too, which is really the most important thing to me. (yes I know what you are thinking, but it REALLY is important to have fun while playing)
I noticed that a lot of the comments from parents were negative: "You missed that pass" or "Switch on!!" or "Don't miss again" And I noticed that the comments from Zeek's coach were for the most part positive and encouraging. I took a few pics of the game, but it is hard to catch with a digital camera that only takes the pic two seconds after you have pushed the button. So these are the best from the day.The team having a Pow Wow before their first match startsZeek about to hit the ball back into play (now I don't know if that is the right terminology) Zeek tackles the ball away from this girl and is about to pass to his team mate. The team being monkeys in the goals.
The proper formal pic taken by Mr. Stranex, Zeek's teacher and hockey coach.

Strange beings have invaded my home
Today I went up to my room to get something and this is what I saw on my bed. (Pete was the culprit here, he decided that his PJ's didn't need to be bundled up under his pillow) The thing at the head is my hair elastic that looks like hair. Then I went to the table to set it for supper and this is who I saw sitting there. By the way the note is supposed to say: It's only healthy. (Rachel was the culprit here, she was trying to show the others what they should be eating.)They did this independently, no planning, so I think there must have been some brain waves crossing today.

Canoing at Castlewellan
You know we have been out on the canoes when you see our front garden looking like this. The story of our day unfolds below.
It was a bank holiday so we decided to make the most of it. We went with the Noble clan (That is their sir name, although they are noble people) to Castlewellan, and spent the day picnicking and canoing. First we all got into the canoes and went out into the lake, it was really windy, so we used an impromptu sail.It worked so well that the other people behind us couldn't catch up. While we were sailing along we saw something bobbing up and down in the water up ahead, when we took a closer look we saw that it was a capsized canoe. We managed to turn it over and then we tied it onto the back of our one. So what is that law about finding something in the water? Ben was wanting a new canoe! No we couldn't keep it, it wasn't international waters after all. So we paddled along some more and some of the little people (there were 16 in all) decided that it would be great to get a tow in the new addition.
Amazingly enough, no one fell in during the transfer. Now if you will look at the pic above you will see a pirates flag stuck into the boat that we were on. While we were paddling along the kids all decided to capture the flag. Next thing we here a triumphal yell from behind us and this is what we see:They were so thrilled with themselves! When we got back we all just ate and played, it was great. Look at Megan attacking Cheryn, they spent ages wrestling. Ben and Nathan went out and it looked so cute, Ben was saying: "Just like daddy." Well I think Nathan did such a good job of paddling just like daddy.A lot of people say that Pete looks like crocodile Dundee in his leather hat, so I have titled this picture THE CANOE HUNTER.And finally, we were here at Castlewellan almost a year ago. So I got a picture standing in the same place, just to see if there were any differences. I should have worn my brown shirt and dark jeans today, then it would have looked really good.

The four missionaries
The children participated in the Stake Primary fireside tonight. It was titled; Fishers of Men. At the end they all took off their first set of costumes and underneath was a whole stake of Missionaries. They all looked so lovely.

Sports Day
Here are some pics of the sports day at the primary school. EnjoyThis last one is of the fathers, can you see Pete? He is wearing a red top and a beanie.
Riddle me this
What is white, reads, falls asleep and then is really sorry later?Yep! It wasn't very pleasant sitting for the next few days.
Sleeping in the sun
I can see why Garfield finds it so appealing.I was in the sun and then got too hot, so I moved over to the other couch.
12! Happy birthday Cheryn.
Well after her sleep over (or should that be called a stay awake) Cheryn was exhausted, she slept after church for a few hours and then woke up to enjoy some cake with the family.
