Our Saturday out

Today we decided that we needed to get out of the house. We chose to go for a walk around the point at Whitehead. If you are looking at a map of Bangor area and you look across the Belfast Lough to Carrickfergus and a little further up to Whitehead that is where we were. We first stopped off at Carrickfergus Castle and had a walk around it. It was built somewhere around 1177 wow, how old is that? It is situated right on the edge of the harbour walls so we took a walk around the harbour too.

Then back into the car and off to Whitehead. There is a light house there and we decided to walk up to it. It is set at the top of some cliffs and the sea has no land masses to disturb the waves so I enjoyed hearing the sound of crashing waves again. We first had a picnic at some of the tables on the mushy grass and then we set off. It was a lovely walk, around the cliff face and through some natural cave tunnels. Then up to the top of the cliff to the spectacular views.

The boys decided to "stalk" us, so they went ahead and then ducked into the bushes and followed us all the way back without us even knowing, we thought they were ahead. They enjoyed that. It is a lovely place to go to and I will definitely take any visitors there, well worth seeing.

I can't believe how much the kids hair has changed from not being in the sun so much, several times I have seen Corbin in the photos and not recognised him without his white blonde hair. We'll come visit you soon and then you can take us there too.
