Snow in December

So we live on the Isle of Wight, where it's not supposed to get more than a dusting of snow every year.  Well since we have lived here we have had two significant snow falls, and both in the same year.  One in January and now again at the beginning of December.  This was on the morning of Peter Sr's birthday, absolutely beautiful!

The trampoline looked like a pie...

Zeek went out with his Halloween Axe (made of bendy rubber) and hacked away at the snow.
The boys decided to jump on the trampoline, look how Zeek's outfit starts out black and quickly changes to white.  This snow was so powdery, you didn't get wet at all, just perfect.
And there is more snow forecast for this weekend.

Happy Birthday Peter

I had to go to work on Peter's birthday and I din't have time to make a cake, so as I was leaving I asked Zeek if he would make one for grandpa.  He very kindly did, and this is how he decorated it.  It tasted delicious, thanks Zeek.

Dad had a good day.  It was also snowing so this was his first white birthday too.  Thanks for spending your day with us dad.

Needles with Peter and Jenny

We took Peter and Jenny to the Needles.  We did this just before the snow and because of the snow we didn't get to do any other sight seeing.  But they did get to see the beautiful snow!

The different coloured strata are so beautiful.  They were tilted due to some massive geological activity, amazing to see...

This was a freezing beautiful outing.

Ventnor Botanic Gardens

We took Mom and Dad to the Botanic Gardens on Sunday after Church.  It was lightly snowing and really cold.  But it was nice to be there all the same.

I have never seen purple berries before, actually purple!  They were so pretty.

View from the cliff tops.  Cold and beautiful.
The frozen group, actually it wasn't that bad, just our faces were cold.

We got to the water fountain and pond and found it frozen, the kids couldn't resist.

small flakes of snow on these leaves, so pretty.
Cheryn took this picture, she loved the texture of the bark on this tree.
Zeek says this was his shield.  His hands were sore after this...

Go-Carting with Grandpa

Granny and Grandpa Bowen came to visit us near the end of November.  Grandpa arrived with presents in his bag, but maybe not what you are expecting...

He had four wheels, two metal bars to act as axles, rope and some nails and accessories.  We went off to B&Q and got the wood and they began building.  It was freezing work out in the back garden, but that didn't stop them.

And here is the finished product and the fun they had with it.

Thanks Dad for thinking of something fun for our kids to do.  And thanks for asking Pete to do it with you, it was good to see the two of you working side by side.

Micro Flower Arranging

Hovercraft and Nandos

I decided that it was now or never!  We had been wanting to go on the hovercraft for the whole year we have been living here, so finally we just went and did it.  It was great!  I love it when the cushion on the bottom inflates before you leave, and then how fast it is, absolutely amazing!
Cheryn's friend Blanka came with us, she is studying photography at school so she took these pictures of us.

I am glad we did this.
