Pete's birthday surprise

Pete was mystified. I told him to get into the car because we were going somewhere. So he is thinking we will go to Angela's house because there is more room there. We drive past her road. Okay, not Angela's. Then he sees we are heading towards the South side of the island, so now he is thinking maybe Yvonne's house. But he can't figure why we would be going there, so he gives up trying to guess.

Here he is in his new shirt, doesn't he look dashing? This is just as we were heading out. "What kind of shoes will I need, and will I need a coat?" He really doesn't know what I have planned!

We were going to Yvonne's house, she is wonderful, she put up balloons and posters and decorations, and laid out a glorious selection of food. When we got there Pete looked slightly confused, why had we come here for his birthday dinner? Then just as he rounded the corner.... SURPRISE!! Look at his face, it is brilliant.
There were more people in her lounge than he expected. Patrick and family, Us (of course) Yvonne, and her friend John. I just love that we caught him out, that is hard to do with someone who seems to share my brain waves regularly.

We left at 10:30, having had a lovely evening. He said he felt so special and loved, and that's because he IS special and he IS loved.

Happy Birthday Pete

It was a bit too early for all of us, but oh well, we all jumped into bed and sang Happy Birthday to the 40 year old!!!Pete opening his presents...

We had kind of a lazy day, the kids at school, Pete off to town to work, me getting ready for the evening (which Pete had no idea about) What happened in the evening will follow in my next blog post.

I love this man so much, I consider it a privilege to be his wife. He is my friend. I thank Heavenly Father every single day for that privilege. I am glad we are together.

Walk in the local forest

The other day we were all feeling a little cabin sickness, so we jumped into the car and went for a walk in the forest. Cheryn had just gotten a new book, so most of her walk was done reading. We had a nice time, Corbin also made himself a bush hut with random logs he found lying around.

Rachel picked a pepper

Which she grew as well. Here is is in all it's dissected glory. She said it was so sweet, the best red pepper she had ever tasted!

It has seemed like a very long process getting it from small plant to red pepper. Makes me worried, if the time ever comes that we need to grow our own, I would have died before this pepper even got some red on it! Oh well, she enjoyed growing and eating her own red pepper.
