Egg decoration

Rachel had some fun home work this weekend. She was to decorate eggs for a competition, and she decided on a sea theme. All her own designs, ideas and work.

Then Cheryn decided to paint an egg too.

Kids in their shirts

Granny Bowen bought the children new T-shirts and wanted pictures of them wearing them.

And at the same time we decided to take a 2009 family photo.I tried to remove some of the visual noise in the background, I don't have photo shop, so this is as good as it gets.

The Star of the Show

Cousin Jessica is the star of the Primary School musical! She got the lead role as Joseph, as in Joseph and his Technicolor dream coat.

She did a great job. This is the scene when Joseph is thrown into jail and is lamenting his fate. (my only complaint is that my camera didn't do her justice)

I don't think I have ever heard her singing, she has a lovely voice and can carry a tune very well.

Zeek got to be an Ishmaelite, he is the one third from the left in the redish coloured gown.

I think they all had a great time.

Spades at the beach

You tell your kids that you are going to the beach. They ask if they can take along some spades. You agree, because kids should dig in the sand and build things, right. Well, when I said spade, what did you picture?
That's not what they had in mind,They had a great time digging to Australia!

Cheryn dug into a book instead.

My neck

This is on the third day after my op. The cut is 6 1/2 cm long, but as you can see it is very neatly stitched, the stitches are under the skin, in the tissue, this is supposed to make a much neater scar. The other plaster is where the drain tube was.

Recovering is so boring

I have read books, watched movies, done sudoku, and slept since Sunday morning. And I probably still have to lie down and rest for another two days or so.

I am doing it though, I want to heal quickly and be able to carry on as soon as possible. I am glad to be home, because I am not being bothered all the time for my blood pressure and pulse, it is quiet here, and the food that Pete serves me is really good.

This was today's lunch. Thanks Pete.

How to get rid of a chip on the shoulder

Kid (doesn't) fool teacher

Found this note saved on the word processor:

"Dear teacher

my son forgot do do his home work because he was seeing his mom in the dotckers.

yours senselessly pearent."

Fortunately the teacher in question didn't check homework today. He might have injured himself laughing.

Gillian Bray goes to Bray!

Pete had a seminar in Dublin, so I decided to go with him to help with the driving. Then I decided to take Cheryn with me. This was the sunrise that we saw while driving.First we parked next to the River Liffey and all went for breakfast. Then Pete was off to his seminar and Cheryn and I were off to Bray! It is a sea side town just South of Dublin. You know those jokes that start off like: There was an Englishman, a Scotsman and an Irishman... well, I had a good laugh at this sticker on the window of the car.

Zeek's hockey

That time of year again, it was the round robin tournaments on Thursday. They did really well, won all their games except for one. It was so exciting to watch.I took this video so that you could see the kids playing in the Hail! There is not much that will put a stop to the game, on Monday they played in the pouring rain.

Rachel's new umbrella

Bought with her own pocket money. And yes it was snowing again, much to the kids delight.

Happy Spring Day

Today on the way home from Church I asked the kids if they wanted to go for a walk in the forest by Scrabo Tower.

So when we got home we ate and then we were off. We drove through a hail storm to get there, all the time hoping we would drive out of it. Corbin said we shouldn't worry about rain in the forest because "it is like a lid."

Well we did drive through it, it was beautiful and sunny on the hill top. With gorgeous views. We stopped to take a family photo. The kids played nicely in the forest, but Corbin was feeling unwell with all of this active walking after being sick on Saturday night, so he got a ride back to the car. While we were sitting on the hill top we watched a storm rolling in over Belfast, it rolled in faster than we thought it would, so the last of our walk back was in the rain.It was fantastic, I felt so exhilarated, for a change it was not freezing, but refreshing, perfect for a Spring day!
