Friends from England
Our friends from South Africa who have now lived in England for the last year came over for a weeks holiday. We had a great time seeing the sights.
Warm sea water in Ireland!
Can you believe it, the other day we were at the beach and the water was actually warm. I even ventured ankle deep!

Corbin mows the lawn
Today we were working in the garden and Corbin asked me if he could mow the lawn as he has never done it before. I held the wire and turned it, it is hard to turn, it's a flymo and doesn't have wheels. (and yes I realized afterwards that he really should have had some shoes on.)
He had a great time. He was pretending that the long bits of grass were trolls and he was destroying them. And of course there was the sense of satisfaction, after every row he would look and say: "Mom, look how much I have done already!"
He was so chuffed with himself.

Sleeping Beauty
Either our house is really comfortable, or we're just boring company. I think it must be that Eva was exhausted and the blanket was just too warm and cozy. Awww, isn't she a lovely sleeper.

Cooking lessons
Our kids have a chores list:
On the night when it's their turn to cook they either do it on their own (depending on their age) or they help. Cheryn and Zeek can cook a lot of meals on their own, things like: Spaghetti Bolognaise, Roast Chicken and veg., Cottage Pie, Tuna Pie, Macaroni Cheese, Mince Curry and Rice.
Rachel and Corbin help with the cooking. Either Pete or I will be the main chef. Corbin can make his own oats porridge or scrambled eggs on toast though. And he loves it!
Here he is enthusiastically helping Pete make a Lamb Curry.

my other blog
At Pete's request anything of a church or spiritual nature will not be posted on this blog, but I do have a blog where I post these things. Go and have a look at what I did for family scripture study this morning.

All I want for Christmas...
The second tooth was not ready yet, it was slightly wobbly, but not ready. Well I suppose this is what happens when they are all jumping on the trampoline together.

Bonfire's Burning...
We decided to go to the bonfire lighting. I am glad that we did, it was interesting to watch the people and of course the bonfire was beautiful.
This pic is blurry by it shows all of the cars parked along the road, I couldn't believe how many people turned up to watch.
At 11:45 pm they started pouring the petrol over the bottom layer.
The first flames lap the wet wood.
It took three barrels of petrol to get it started, we have had a really wet week!
The people near the buildings seemed to be the ones to stay away from. They didn't seem dangerous, just a lot of drinking and a rough feeling about them. They were in the minority though.
There were plenty of other people who looked like they were just your normal every day people enjoying the huge bonfire burning.
This is the only wall mural left on this side of the estate, I think they are getting rid of all the ones that depicted guns pointing or violence of any sort.
And here is the bonfire in all its glory. Note the Southern Ireland Flag on top.

Family Home Evening
Donovan and Eva phoned us on Monday night and asked us to join them at Adventure Golf for Family Home Evening. It is a wet place to be, they have water canons that fire at you and exploding ponds, and continual mist in some places.
If I am not mistaken Jessica was the overall winner of the evening with Pete and Donovan tied for second and Gill came third. It was fun, and we all enjoyed ourselves I think. We had Poppy along too, our other 'daughter' (you know the friend of one of your kids who seems to be in all the family photos.)
We also saw the text that we're going to put on Pete's gravestone one day :)
